Paper Mill Main Bearing Maintenance

THE PROBLEM:
A paper mill detected major issues on the main bearing of their only primary clarifier. The bearing was in need of replacement but the facility did not have experience with this type of work and the OEM was not responsive. EVALUATION: Salt Creek Technologies and WesTech Engineering worked with plant personnel to understand the issue and develop a repair plan. |

THE SOLUTION:
With the repair plan developed and agreed upon WesTech Technicians and Local Subcontractors developed a timeline and outage plan with mill personnel. Since the primary clarifier had no back up the work needed to coincide with a slow down at the mill which made timing of the work and adherence to schedule critical.
The team was able to complete the replacement scope of the work and some additional maintenance items in the scheduled maintenance window. At the completion of the work the clarifier was placed back into service without issue.
